Papers relating to the organisation of the army education course held at Barnard Castle, including a folder of correspondence relating to arrangements for the course including arranging for lecturers to contribute, obtaining material on the local area, and arranging visits to places to be surveyed; a typescript copy of 'The Naturalist's Approach to Town Study' by Winifred Lomas who lectured on the course; a bus timetable; a brochures for The Morritt Arms and George hotels; timetables; lists of places to be surveyed and the students assigned to them; incomplete notes on survey method; a list of LePlay House Press survey publications; and a folder marked 'Illustrations of Houses, Inns etc. for Barnard Castle' which includes images of mediaeval buildings and information on mediaeval traditions.
