Description	Papers relating to the Charity Organisation Society and the Social Reconstruction Committee in particular. Alexander Farquharson was the secretary and leader of the Committee which was set up to consider the problems of social reconstruction after the Second World War. The papers include a folder of notices of meeting, agendas and correspondence much of which is between Farquharson and B. E. Astbury general secretary of the Society; a memorandum of conclusions reached by the Committee with regard to Compulsory Social Insurance; and a programme for a Summer Conference on Family Case Work of which Farquharson was the chairman. There is also a minute book containing signed minutes, notices of meeting and agendas between 20 April 1940 and 4 September 1942.
