The survey covered Universities, government departments, local authorities and voluntary societies and the papers include correspondence with the organisation surveyed, questionnaire responses, memoranda, minutes, reports and correspondence regarding the organisation of the survey, flyers and index cards with details of social research courses. There is also a collection of letters and copy letters between Alexander Farquharson and Sir Percy Alden about the funding from the Halley Stewart Trust which funded the research.
